Autoethnographic reflections on the professional practice at the CAREF-CELS-UBA Legal Clinic, Argentina

In this article we propose to undertake an autoethnography of our stage as students of the mandatory professional practice at the School of Law of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), Argentina. With this starting point, we rely on an emblematic legal case of expulsion of a young migrant from the country, whose defense was conducted by the Legal Clinic of the Argentine Commission for Refugees and Migrants (CAREF) and the Center for Legal and Social Studies (CELS), one of the sites where the free Legal Aid of the UBA operates. From this case we promote a critical reflection on the sociological analysis of human conflict that transcends the legal case, the solution beyond the law, and the collective construction of legal knowledge. In the conclusions we propose the need to (re)think both the teaching of law and its professional practice, in contexts of great social demands for the enjoyment of human rights.
