What do judges think about domestic violence

Resumen

In this paper the criteria adopted by the judges of the criminal courts of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires to address domestic violence is identified and analyzed. Specifically, it describes the approach used to define and conceptualize the issue and which are and how do gender stereotypes involved work. This allows to affirm, that although it has been incorporated a narrative that considers this problem as pertaining to the field of human rights and promotes an approach from a gender perspective, its implementation confronts with androcentric culture values, deeply rooted in operators, that hinder a comprehensive and interdisciplinary treatment, according to the legislation parameters.
