Oñati Socio-Legal Series receives a JIF for the first time and improves its metrics in the Web of Science

Clarivate has released the Journal Citation Reports on 28 June. This year for the first time, more than 9,000 quality journals from more than 3,000 publishers, including Oñati Socio-legal Series, have received a Journal Impact Factor for the first time. Oñati Socio-Legal Series has been constantly improving its performance on Clarivate's Web of Science database. It has received a JIF of 0.5. Moreover, it has moved up to the Q2 quartile according to the Journal Citation Indicator (JCI), ranking 177 of 411 Law journals.

Beginning with the 2022 metrics, released in June 2023, all journals in the Web of Science Core Collection receive a JIF. This extends to the Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) and Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) for the first time. Oñati Socio-Legal Series is in the ESCI. In the JCR that has just been published, Oñati Socio-Legal Series has received a JIF of 0.5. It had a total of 133 citable items from years 2020 and 2021, and it received a total of 64 citations in 2022 to those 133 items.

OSLS and all 9,000 journals indexed in AHCI and ESCI have not received a rank, quartile or percentile. These values will be calculated with the release of the 2023 metrics in June 2024.

Q2 in Law journals

In 2021, Clarivate introduced the Journal Citation Indicator (JCI). According to this metric, Oñati Socio-Legal Series is now in the Q2 quartile of Law journals, ranking 177th of all 411 titles, moving up one quartile. The JCI percentile is at an all-time high of 57.06.

The JCI was introduced in 2021 with the release of the 2020 metrics and was calculated back to 2017. It represents the average category-normalized citation impact for papers published in the prior three-year period.
