Resumen: Ulrike Schultz (FernUniversität Hagen), also on behalf of co-editors Maria Rita Bartolomei and Sara Araújo, presents Oñati Socio-Legal Series 15(6): Gender in Customary and Indigenous Law and Proceedings.
How have customary and Indigenous laws survived colonialism, and how have they transformed in today’s societies?
This special issue explores their impact on women’s lives, focusing especially on sub-Saharan Africa. The project brings diverse standpoints and fieldwork insights, extending beyond Africa, with perspectives from Latin America, MENA countries, East Asia, and even Europe’s own customary practices. The project remains open-ended—inviting new contributions to deepen our understanding of this rich, evolving field.
